Still, it's a great accolade and achievement, considering that HCIAA soccer is usually frowned upon by the general population throughout the state. For an Emerson player to overcome that obstacle and earn a statewide recognition is an outstanding accomplishment and one that everyone at Emerson High School should be very proud of...

St. Peter's Prep senior wide receiver/defensive back Leo Ferrine had the chance of a lifetime last week when he was selected to the MSG Network Heisman All-Metropolitan Football team. Talk about your power breakfast, huh?...

About a month ago, there was an article that appeared here about the new artificial turf field at Bruins Stadium, and it was incorrectly reported that the surface was the same FieldTurf that appears at Giants Stadium.
In fact, the surface at Bruins Stadium is called AstroPlay, which is totally different than the FieldTurf. We apologize for the mistake and credit Chip Namias, a former NFL public relations director who currently works for a sports PR firm in Los Angeles, for pointing out the error.
"While some writers seem to want to generically refer to all artificial turfs as the same, I can assure you that there is a huge difference," Namias said. "FieldTurf is currently used by 17 NFL teams, and is in fact in place at Giants Stadium. In a survey conducted of all NFL players by the NFL Players Association, FieldTurf was rated third out of 32 NFL stadium fields for safety, playability, etc. That means that FieldTurf was ranked by league players ahead of 20 of the NFL's 22 natural grass fields. The only AstroPlay surface is NFL use during 2002 (the season that the survey was based on) was the Bears' field at the University of Illinois. FieldTurf is extremely proud of its resistance to injuries and its endorsement from the NFLPA."
Namias added, "We are extremely active in selling and marketing our product to high schools, colleges and community centers throughout New Jersey. Certainly, it is harmful to those efforts when a paper misidentifies a stadium field. We obviously do not want any of our current or potential customers to think that it is our product that is installed at Bruins Stadium, when it most certainly is not."
Fair enough. Correction granted... -- Jim Hague
