To celebrate the Hoboken Sesquicentennial, local artists from around the city will show their works as part of the 150th Anniversary Citywide Art Exhibit.

According to Gerri Fallo, the city's coordinator of Cultural Affairs, the event will be similar to the Artists Studio Tour, which is held in October but on a smaller scale.

The event will be held next Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and March 6, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and according to Fallo, the event will be a free self-guided walking tour that will feature the work of over 40 local artists. All of the works that will be featured in the exhibitions will celebrate Hoboken either through photography, oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, quilting or much more.

Long-time Hoboken resident Peggy McGeary will display a Memory Quilt at the Monroe Center for the Arts, at 720 Monroe St., suite E200. The handmade quilt will list the names of long-time businesses, like Marie's Bakery, famous residents like Frank Sinatra, and landmark buildings such as the Erie Lackawanna Train terminal. "Until I started this project, I didn't realize how many businesses have been in Hoboken for such a long time," said McGeary.
