I would like to thank the Hoboken Reporter for publishing a very informative article last week on the inner workings of the Hoboken Parking Utility and its progress over the past 12 months. Parking is a paramount issue in Hoboken, and this story provided a much-needed glimpse into its progress.
Several years ago, Mayor David Roberts proposed a municipal take-over of the former Hoboken Parking Authority and, after spirited debate, the Parking Utility was formed under the direct supervision of the City. As reported in this paper, this change has produced positive results for residents and the City's bottom line.
Mayor Roberts made the right decision in appointing John Corea to lead the task of restoring the Utility to profitability and developing a creative business plan to generate more parking spaces for Hoboken residences.
Parking is a central quality of life issue and has been for over two decades. It is good to see that action has finally been taken to alleviate the lack of on street parking and the promotion of available spaces in Municipal Garages.
Mayor Roberts asked for the opportunity to make critical changes to our City's parking deficiencies. John Corea has taken the challenge and we are finally making progress.
Sincerely,
Vivian Mosca
