Born to Colombian parents, Hugo Sr. and Edith, Commissioner Cabrera tells us that his beloved father is now deceased and his loving mother now lives in North Bergen. A township commissioner since 1999, Mr. Cabrera also tells us that he graduated from Weehawken High School and the attended Rutgers University/New Brunswick and Newark, where he achieved his Fire Official License and also a Housing Official License, and then also became certified in school facilities management and studied finance. Thus, as the elected commissioner of the Department of Revenue and Finance for the Township, Commissioner Cabrera's educational background has suited his chosen career very well!
Commissioner Cabrera speaks joyfully of his lovely wife Teresa, who was born in Cuba and raised in Union City, where she graduated from Union Hill High School. They have three children, a son, Justin, who is a student at North Bergen High School, and two daughters, Amanda and Lauren, both students at the Robert Fulton School in North Bergen.
As for sports, Commissioner Cabrera tells us that the sports that he truly likes are the ones that his children are involved in, and that he is there to root them on to success, as a proud father should! His son Justin is a wrestler and his daughter Amanda is a cheerleader and a member of the softball team, and she also plans to try out for the basketball team this coming season! As for daughter Lauren, she is a member of the Poms Poms team, the tee-ball team, and she plans to also try out for the soccer team in the next season.
Commissioner Cabrera tells us that his lovely wife Teresa is an Aquarius, and that he is an Aries, which is a good astrological match up!
As for community affairs, Commissioner Cabrera has been a member of the North Hudson local area Selective Service Board since 1991. He tells us also that he has a brother Cesar who lives in North Bergen, two sisters Pura and Mariam who live in Weehawken and Florida respectively, and another brother Alex, who is now deceased and missed deeply!
In his leisure time, Commissioner Cabrera drives a four-wheel motorcycle, likes to ski, and goes horseback riding in Pennsylvania. In years past he also owned ranch horses in Secaucus as well as in Pennsylvania, but now only enjoys the horseback riding sport in itself!
As an elected commissioner, he works quietly and tirelessly, visiting constituents and doing good works in an unassuming manner. He doesn't seek self-acclaim, but does leave his mark on Goodwill wherever he travels to fulfill his duties as a guardian to the people he represents in the neighborhoods of the township! Commissioner Cabrera, keep up the quiet but great work you are doing, and all the best in your endeavors!!...
