Dear Editor:

It is without reservation that I fully support the affirmation of Christopher Campos' re-election as the 4th Ward Councilman. The strides that the 4th Ward has made during his tenure have been tremendous. Having lived here my whole life I've witnessed the decades of disregard and indifference by most of our previous representatives. Our votes were simple parlayed for their own personal gain.

Chris has been a dynamic driving force on the City Council and has served our interest well. I'm speaking specifically in terms of bringing things to the 4th Ward that otherwise would not have come if not for his persistence.

When monies were being allocated for paving uptown streets he insisted that First Street be paved.

When "Streetscape" monies were made available to beautify Washington Street he insisted that Jackson Street be done.

After several residents expressed concern over the amount of horn honking on Monroe Street between First and Observer Highway, I asked him for a No Horn Blowing sign, and it was up within a week.

For over 20 years we asked for a traffic light at the intersection of First and Monroe Streets. In fact St. Joseph School was still open when we started. Chris made it happen in his first term. How many accidents have been alleviated? It seemed as though they were a weekly occurrence.

One of his latest project to come to fruition is the Madison Street Park, how great is that? If you haven't seen it, take a walk by Third and Madison Streets. It's wonderful to see children and their parents having fun in our end of town.

These are only a few of Chris Campos' accomplishments; he's been honored and cited by a number of organizations involving his work on behalf of the children of the 4th Ward and all of Hoboken.

Everyone agrees that development needs to be monitored much more closely, and we definitely need to balance development with open spaces. How ironic though that some of the people most responsible for creating this monster now cry the loudest to slay the monster. I'm convinced however that Chris Campos is the right candidate to strike this balance.

The passion and commitment which he brings to everything he does are qualities we need from all our council people. However, although he exudes confidence I know Chris to be a very humble person and honored to be able to serve us.

Chris Campos is a well educated, eloquent and dynamic young man that is the best qualified to represent all the people of the 4th Ward. His achievements in life are due to his perseverance and hard work. He truly exemplifies living the American dream and serves as a good role model for all of Hoboken's youth.

There are many issues facing the 4th Ward, and Chris Campos has been working hard to address all of them. His record on the City Council is such that he deserves the opportunity to continue to represent us. I urge all my family and friends in the 4th Ward to vote for Chris Campos on Tuesday, June 12.

Sincerely yours,
Frank J. Gullo
