NORTH BERGEN -- When a North Bergen woman was dropping off her boyfriend at his house in the wee hours of the morning, a woman allegedly came up to her vehicle, punched her in the face, and stole her cell phone, police said.

According to North Bergen Police, the 19-year-old North Bergen victim was dropping off her boyfriend at his Newkirk Avenue residence at 3:40 a.m. on March 11.

While she was sitting in her vehicle, an 18-year-old Union City woman and another female allegedly pulled up behind her in a black vehicle, said police.

“[The 18-year-old] approached the victim and [allegedly] punched her in the face,” said police. “She fought them off, but they grabbed her T-Mobile cell phone.”

After police called the alleged robber on the stolen cellphone, the 18-year-old robber answered.

She showed up at North Bergen Police Headquarters, where she was arrested for robbery, police said. -- Tricia Tirella
