NATIONAL NEWS? In Hoboken, the leaves have been spiraling out of control this week, much like the politics.

HOBOKEN AND BEYOND -- The Washington, D.C.-based National Jewish Democratic Council condemned Zoning Board Member Nancy Pincus on Wednesday after her controversial blog featured a photo of Councilwoman Beth Mason and Councilman Tim Occhipinti superimposed on an altered poster for the 1935 Nazi propaganda film Triumph des Willens, or Triumph of the Will. Both Mason and Pincus are Jewish.

For more than a year, Pincus has used her blog, "The Grafix Avenger," to satirize aspects of Hoboken politics. She particularly derided certain foes of Mayor Dawn Zimmer, whom she supports. One Zimmer rival is Councilwoman Mason.

The NJDC's blog post condemning Pincus appeared two days after certain Zimmer foes complained at a council meeting about the blog.

Pincus has said she believes the attack on her is a politically motivated attempt to remove her from the Zoning Board. She echoed that stance on Wednesday after the NJDC issued their statement.

“I was never contacted for the [NJDC] piece,” Pincus said. “I was never asked for an interview.”

Pincus said that one board member of the NJDC is a contributor to Councilwoman Mason, and believes the post on the NJDC website may be part of the plan to have her removed. However, political opponents of Pincus have repeatedly refuted the claims that this incident is political. Surprisingly, at the council meeting on Monday, when the issue was addressed in the public portion, all four of the allies of Zimmer denounced the photo of Mason.

Pincus said she has no intention of resigning from her seat.

True, both are in poor taste and certainly not the type of behavior one would expect from their public officials. Nevertheless, Pincus' is by degree much worse and I do think she should resign from office. "

That's where we differ on issues and probably the reason we have constitutional rights. Your opinion of something is just as valid as someone else's. What you perceive as one thing, others perceive as another. The law decides the gravity. Quite honestly, if we used your ideals, we would probably get rid of half the cc at each meeting. LOL!!!

PS. I'd be happy to see Russo voted out of office and his actions will certainly be considered when people make up their mind in May.

Ted-

While I am not a Russo fan in any respect, I do not think the tombstone stunt rises to the same level of transgression as the publishing of the Nazi reference and image of Mason on the Graphix Avenger site.

True, both are in poor taste and certainly not the type of behavior one would expect from their public officials. Nevertheless, Pincus' is by degree much worse and I do think she should resign from office.

And as you know GAs shill comment was a joke, as well.

The both speak to the point. Either action can be considered an insult to those who view is as such. In GAs case, one must find and choose to read her comments, on Russo's side, his audience is passive, many of whom are adults who attend because they have children. Either case could be considered in a negative light. Both are protected by the 1st ammendment and both should be seen as what they are; satire. In the GA case, one must choose to view her writings and in the Russo case, one who has children, must passively endure it.

To indicate that anyone who does something that is above reproach, should be removed from any position, allows for a lot of interpretation and political shananigans. As we have seen in the past few weeks.

Btw, Nice way to cover up the cancellation of corner cars. Gotta give it you guys - you are good.

"Triumph of the Shill" is racist?

tonyz wrote:"Let her go off as a private citizen and make all the protected racist comments she wants"

as a public figure, representing me and my town, I think she needs to be held to a higher standard of conduct.

Russo put out tombstones at the children's Haunted House. The tombstones had nasty, visious remarks on each of the "Zimmer" majority city council members.

Do you feel the same about Russo? SHould he be held to a higher standard? Should he get out of the public sphere?

Hey Ted: I understand her first amendment rights. Let her go off as a private citizen and make all the protected racist comments she wants. But as a public figure, representing me and my town, I think she needs to be held to a higher standard of conduct.

Actions can be protected and not appropriate. That is the case here. She needs to get out of the public sphere.

Here's an easy solution to prevent this type of issue going forward: Russo could sponsor a resolution that clearly states, any and all board appointees and elected official are to refrain from using their 1st Ammendment rights. Any person, aforementioned, found using 1st Ammendment rights shall be removed from their possition immediately. As is the norm for previous years, Federal and State constitions will not be applicable to said resolution.

Jewish anti-semitic Zimmer supporters are especially noted.

The person that doesn't belong in public office is Mason:

Please- I think you let your partisanship blind you. No one other than Pincus manufactured the graphic on her blog and that is the end of the story. Any other conspiracy you have concocted does not fit. I am not in any way a Russo supporter. Nevertheless this woman has shown us that she does not belong in any kind of public office.

Local politics has nothing to do with my feelings, her actions do.

The story was manufactured to take the focus off of the Voter Fraud and try to unseat a qualified zoning member.

Come on when are you people going to wake up? How can you all continue to support the Russo's they are bunch of STUGOTS!

All of you arguing about this are getting lost in your debate.

Regardless of the political side you are on this was a thoughtless and insensitive move by someone who should know better. Frankly, I think that her presence on a public board is an embarrassment to Hoboken and she should resign or be removed.

Sensible people on both sides of the political debate should come to this conclusion. Stop framing Pincus as the victim of a political attack. She is a victim of her own stupidity.

to further prove my point if you read pincus's blog, she asks the same question as in the hr headline: "How the hell did this national organization know of my existence?"

then she sez - "Because Beth Mason's donor and fundraiser, Larry Stemple, is on their Board of Directors, and ostensibly fast-tracked a political hit piece..."

pincus thinks its important to tell her side publicly after the njdc and other places started jumping on this, but you would have rather not had it written about at all. mabye the whole issue somehow makes you look bad?

khoboken again you miss the point, but why not since it's in front of your face! the hr writes a couple stories about how some people are complaining about grafixavengers post. the reporter pointed out that it may be political. you ignore that entire second part and pretend that by writing about what is going on, the hr somehow is wrong. are you in favor of censorship? i guess if every story in the paper is somehow not about occipinti looking bad you dont think it is worth reporting. pincus feels unfairly attacked, by writing aobut what is going on, the media helps her get her side out there. you would rather it be swept under the rug than a story be written telling both sides. even pincus would tell you your an idiot for that. thank god the local reporters know their job since you dont.

Pablo the Village Idiot

I guess you feel kind of silly after Defazio has kicked the matter upstairs to the AG's office. I guess that even the HR could no longer ignore the storey. It is a curse being right, sometimes. Just like I am sure that it is a curse being a moron.

some of these criticisms dont make sense. all the stories written here and in other news sites make it clear that this may be part of a political ploy, and thats part of the story every time if you read it. So would you rather the press keep quiet about it and let the public hear about it without nancys side, or just read it on the njdc site without nancys side?

khoboken, you are not very bright, are you. you sound very defensive rather then interested on news. as for the election fraud i think if i read one more story about it i will go insane, but im sure it will be in the paper this weekend as for tim carol if you like tim carol's story about lenz bartering for jobs you can still read it here any time you want, http://www.politickernj.com/something-old-new-hoboken

Two articles on the GA manufactured controversy to disguise a power play to regain control of the zoning board. Two effing stores, and not one story about the criminal referral by the Board fo election yesterday. Since Timn Carroll left, this rag has given up any pretense to practicing journalism. As to the question who wrote this piece? Is there any doubt that it was spoon fed by Lane Bajardi at the behest of Beth Mason?

It's all about controlling the zoning board by assassinating Pincus and removing her from the zoning board:
