HOBOKEN – The Hoboken City Council will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, March 23, at 6 p.m. at City Hall to address police pay, as well as a separate issue about an uptown property that will most likely cause the council to enter executive session.

At the last meeting on March 16, the council agreed to adjourn at midnight, which left some items on the agenda unaddressed. One ordinance that was not introduced needed to be passed to pay police officers following their new contracts.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m., and then the council will convene for a hearing on the proposed municipal budget at 7 p.m.

Perhaps its being called a "coup" because in order to do it, Mason had to introduce a secret change to the existing CC rules at midnight, and then get not only her 5 cohorts to vote for that, but to vote that a non-existent "emergency" existed so that they could proceed with their (yes) coup. Mason's payments to TimO raise serious legal and ethical issues, but you are right. They are not necessary to make the case that a coup took place.

Bet's money was unethical at best. She gave close to $20,000 that we at least can tie to her. She's admitted to $13,400 which is way over the $2,600 legal limit for individual contributions.

Tim needed that dough to pay his 'campaign workers,' I mean voters - by the hundreds and hundreds.

You think Bet Mazin is clean? LOL She is dirty, dirty, dirty.

How come you think the Mason-Russo side doesn't need a deep cleaning? Look at the looting again by the Russo family - another 100K sucked off the taxpayers paying for his old man to suck on the teet of Hoboken.

And you are concerned about the mayor's backers being out of line? Wheely? Wheely Mason?

I'm not defending Beth's actions but, since when is gaining the majority through a fair election a coup? Don't give me the line about her campaign contributions, which were perfectly legal.

The current sleazy and nasty election banter needs an injection of fairness, objectivity on the issues and ethical judgement. All seem to be lacking among both camps but seem to be particularly bad among the mayor's supporters. After the election is over, we still have to live together and work with each other. Let's tone it down and keep it civil.

For the second time since she took over the city council presidency by a coup d'etat, Mason manages to neglect here duties, necessitating a special city council meeting so that the city can make payroll. What an utter disgrace this woman is!
