Vega made the tough decisions

Dear Editor:

I am writing this letter to remind the residents of West New York that since taking office in 2007, Mayor Silverio A. Vega and his team of commissioners have been making the tough decisions our town needed. For years, the town had been spending more money than it was taking in – but thanks to Mayor Vega we are back on strong financial footing.

Despite the harsh cuts to our state funding, Vega’s administration cut town spending by over $1 million and thanks to good negotiating by the mayor we are saving over $2 million a year in reduced insurance costs. Mayor Vega’s budget for this year freezes our property taxes through 2012 too!

Thanks to Mayor Vega, I feel safe walking the streets of West New York because we hired more police to patrol. I see them on Bergenline every day. The new neighborhood watch program allows us, the residents, to help the police fight crime, because Mayor Vega made it possible.

I urge everyone to go out and vote for the entire Column C VEGA Team, on Tuesday, May 10th – West New York cannot afford to lose Mayor Vega and our current Board of Commissioners!

Cesar Sabino
