Dear Editor:

We have lived in Weehawken for 4 years. In a child’s life that would be my daughter, Lianas', 9-12th grades of high school. During that time we have supported the Weehawken Library and additionally attended the Taste of Weehawken each year.

Liana has taken Culinary Arts taught by the wonderful Mr. Hecht twice. She has often come home talking to us about his class and their work. Yes, I said my daughter was talking about school! Thank you Mr. Hecht.

That would be enough praise for Mr. Hecht. But, I have more. Each year we attend the culinary feast that the High school prepares at The Taste of Weehawken. This year it was extraordinary. In 4 years I saw many restaurants come and go, I saw many run out of food, I saw many that served food not worthy of their restaurant. Mr. Hecht’s high school table was incredible this year. Not just a beautiful setting, not just delicious, not just served by happy teens, but competitive with the best restaurants there. Weehawken is very lucky to have such a great teacher that motivates, and then showcase his students without hesitation.

Mr. Hecht, you are an exceptional teacher in every respect. Good luck to you in everything you do.
