HUDSON COUNTY -- Flush from his victory in securing Democratic committee seats in the June 7 primary, Jersey City Councilman Steve Fulop said he hopes to defeat Joseph Conte as the chairman of the Jersey City Democratic Committee at tonight's reorganization meeting.

Conte is seen as a supporter of incumbent Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy, who Fulop may have to run against in 2013. Defeating Conte as chairman would be seen as a crippling blow to Healy's reelection chances.

Meanwhile, Hoboken and West New York's Democratic committees are both planning meetings early this week. Jamie Cryan and new West New York Mayor Felix Roque are expected to try to take the chairmanships of both local party organizations, respectively. Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer's allies recently lost too many seats in the committee races to run the local party. -- Al Sullivan

Steve Fulop is a threat to take over the JC party as a result of his huge victory winning 60 out of 360 committee seats? Al - its good to see your understanding of JC politics is as intelligent and thoughtful as your understanding of Hoboken. Keep up the good work!! You're not particularly informative but you certainly are entertaining.
