Confirmed downed, live wires were at 6th and Jefferson streets, 5th and Grand streets, 703 Park Avenue, and 800 Madison Street as of about 9 a.m.
"There's no reason to go outside," Zimmer said outside her office this morning.
She urged residents not to walk their dogs.
Zimmer also said at 9 a.m. that around 9,000 people were about to lose their electricity. She said PSE&G couldn't provide the locations of where exactly power would be lost.
The emergency command center is still operational in City Hall, and can be reached at 201-239-6643/6644. An official at the command center said last night the calls were fewer than expected, but said since people are losing power the calls are beginning to increase.
