Last summer Campaigns and Elections Magazine named Jersey City resident and C&S Strategies founder Candice Osborne among its 10 Rising Stars. Osborne was recognized for her innovations in mobile and Cloud-based campaign technology to foster grassroots accountability and improve Election Day get out the vote efforts. C&S Strategies is a non-partisan digital political consulting firm, offering products and services ranging from voter targeting to online reputation and social media management.
The Rising Stars award is given to a select group of people aged 35 and under who have an established track record of achievement in political consulting or advocacy. Rising Stars were first recognized in 1988 and have gone on to serve in the highest levels of government and political consulting. Past honorees include David Axelrod, Donna Brazile, James Carville, Alex Castellanos, Rahm Emanuel, Ben Ginsberg, Ed Goeas, Mike Murphy, Bill McInturff, and George Stephanopoulos.
Resident received scholarship from restaurant association
The New Jersey Restaurant Association (NJRA) and New Jersey Restaurant Education Foundation recently awarded the 2011 Garden State Silver Plate Scholarship Award to nine local high school seniors at the Hospitality House in Trenton.
Jersey City resident Desjurne Singleton received the Garden State Silver Plate Scholarship.
The award consisted of a $500 check, engraved silver plate, a chef coat and joint resolution from the state Senate and Assembly. The students had to submit a one page essay on why they selected the food service industry as their area of study and where they envision this study will take them in the future. All of the applicants are a part of the ProStart Curriculum Program.
The NJRA represents owners and operators of full-service restaurants, catering facilities, taverns/pubs, brew pubs, diner restaurants, hotel restaurants, coffee shops, institutional feeders, delis, pizzerias, country clubs, and culinary students and schools. Today, the New Jersey restaurant and hospitality industry includes 23,000 eating and drinking establishments generating $12 billion in annual sales and employing 311,000 people.
