HOBOKEN – Mayor Dawn Zimmer called for a special council meeting on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m., this time with the hope that her council opponents will support temporary budget appropriations of approximately $600,000.

The council minority voted down the temporary appropriations at the Feb. 15 meeting, a move that Zimmer said could put the brakes on some of the city’s legal fights. Zimmer has five allies on the council, but six votes are needed to pass emergency temporary budget appropriations.

If they vote the measure down again, Zimmer is asking the council to decide which legal fights are not worth pursuing for the city, from a list of approximately 30 lawsuits.
