Aren’t the teachers entitled to the same?

Dear Editor:

I am writing in response to a letter that appeared recently, written by Bd of Ed trustee Dora Marra. In her letter she chastises Mr. Anderson, SEC President, for requesting a 4 percent raise for teachers and insinuates he must be “out of touch with what’s right and fair” in this economy. In her term on the Bd of Ed as Trustee, Ms. Marra approved the same 4 percent raise for Ms. Randina, Superintendent of Secaucus schools, so aren’t the teachers entitled to the same?

A second Vote of no Confidence was taken even showing a larger gap in School employees have in Ms Randina’s role as leader. After this, along with a list of grievances was handed to Ms. Randina, Mr. Manente began reading to the audience reprimands Mr. Anderson had received while teaching under the present administration. Many of the union members followed Mr. Anderson out of the meeting at that time. Mr. Manente was unprofessional in this act. It was a clear act of character assassination. Both Sal Manente and Dora Marra are elected officials and should begin acting as such. Mr. Anderson was one of Secaucus finest teachers and does not deserve to be treated with such little respect.

After the meeting I requested through the OPRA Act, an audio CD of the meeting for personal review. I was told by Ron Smith, Business Administrator, the meeting was not recorded due to technical difficulties. Really, How convenient? I have contacted the State Department of Ethics Committee concerning this matter.
