To the Editor:

On behalf of all the student members and faculty advisors of the Polish Cultural Society of Bayonne High School, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the Society’s 11th annual Evening of Polish Poetry and benefit for Dawid Strucinski.

I would like to acknowledge the following individuals who through their kindness and professionalism assisted our fundraising effort: Dr. Patricia L. McGeehan, superintendent of schools; Richard J. Baccarella, principal of Bayonne High School; Tim Craig, director of art, music and drama; Steve Laszkow, supervisor of repairs and custodians; the custodial staff; Sal Ianacci and the student crew of BEN-TV; Peggy Capodice, processing center supervisor; the center staff; and Jeanne MacFarlane, the Society’s “Godmother”.

Thanks also are due to Richard J. Romelczyk, our guest choreographer; Alexandra Joy Appel; and Steve Grau, along with the other members of “Team Dawid.”

The Society further acknowledges the public show of solidarity by the Honorable Mark A. Smith, mayor of the City of Bayonne; the Honorable Joseph Hurley, Bayonne Municipal Council Member; and Leo J. Smith Jr., assistant superintendent of schools, who attended this benefit for Dawid Strucinski.

The Society also thanks the all-too-many-to-list-here school faculty, staff members, and other generous people who contributed donations towards Dawid’s medical expenses, as well as all those present at our Evening of Polish Poetry.

We were pleased that Dawid was able to be in attendance. The progress he has made to date, and even simply waking from his coma, is nothing short of miraculous. Nevertheless, he still needs our continued support and prayers in order to achieve a full recovery. The Society is confident that he will receive them from the good people of Bayonne.

SANDRA KOLAKOWSKI

President

Polish Cultural Society of Bayonne High School
