A memorial service has been scheduled for Feb. 28 at Stockholm Methodist Church in Stockholm, NJ, to honor Charles A. Ficken, formerly of West New York and Clearwater, FL. He died on Jan. 20 at the Andover Nursing Home in Andover, NJ. He was born and raised in West New York and lived there for 75 years before moving to Clearwater, and subsequently Andover, NJ. He worked for the New York Life Insurance Co. After retirement, he worked for the Town of West New York as the license inspector. He was a lifetime member and deacon of Trinity Reformed Church in West New York. He served on the West New York Board of Education, was a member of the Kiwanis, American Legion, Masonic Lodge and the United States Navy. Survivors include his children, Judy Ficken LaCoste, Patricia Ficken Carr, Loraine Ficken McCarthy, Charles (Chip) Ficken, Lou Signa, Nancy Signa Wardell, and Kathleen Signa Von Nesson; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
