Dear Editor:

I would just like to make mention of how much I enjoy living in West New York and how much of a great job the current administration is doing in Town Hall.

Mayor Vega and his team are improving our town in many ways. There are more police officers on our streets, and statistics prove that crime is declining, thanks to the Mayor’s selection of Police Director Oscar Fernandez (the first Hispanic Police Director in the history of Hudson County) who lives in Town. The Department of Public Works has never been operated more professionally and efficiently thanks to the Mayor’s selection of Public Works Director Bill Parkinson, who lives in town. Our school district continues to win award after award and continues to be one of the top urban school districts in the North East, thanks to the Mayor’s recommendation to the Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Van Danten, who lives in town. Notice a trend?

The Mayor made it clear at the beginning of his term that he will not consider adding a person to his cabinet unless they are a West New York resident; he is in the process of making sure that every single person with a leadership position in West New York lives in West New York.

I can go on and on about the positive change that I along with many of my fellow West New Yorkers have noticed since Mayor Vega and his running mates were elected during the May 2007 municipal election.

It is obvious that Mayor Silverio A. Vega is the right man to help West New York reach its high level of potential.

Susel Bello
