On behalf of the Weehawken Free Public Library, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the nearly 400 guests and more than 30 restaurants and businesses who turned out to support our 12th Annual Taste of Weehawken fundraiser last month.
Our community gathers each year at the Taste to not only enjoy an extraordinary evening of delicious food and drink, but to also help support our wonderful Library. This year was certainly no exception! As a result, we were able to raise nearly $15,000; these funds will help us underwrite many of our popular Children’s Programs such as Circle Time, Story Time, and the upcoming Summer Reading Programs.
Amid the continuing statewide budget crisis and news about the closing of many other libraries, fundraising through Taste remains a critical source of funding for our Library. The success of this year’s Taste is a testament to that fact that even as these tough economic times continue, our community also continues to come together in support of our Library. For this, we thank you.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to the many superb restaurants and proprietors who participated in the Taste: All Kinds of Whoopie, Amanda’s, Antonia’s by the Park, Ben & Jerry’s, Charrito’s Restaurant, Chart House Restaurant, The Clinton Social, Cremas Artisan Flavors, Flaming Burrito, G.P.’s, Gladis Homemade Cakes, Houlihan’s on the Waterfront, Hudson Blue Bar & View, LaMiscela Catering, Lorraine’s Table, Lusso’s Pizza and Wine Bar, Madison Bar & Grill, Masina Tratoria, The Melting Pot, Plated by Giselle, Porto Leggero, Rita’s Italian Ice-North Bergen, Robongi on the Waterfront, Rosa de Saron Florist, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Starbucks, and Tomaso’s, Touch of Spice.
Finally, we extend a very special thanks to Hartz Mountain for donating the spectacular setting for the Taste; to the Weehawken Reporter for their continued advertising support; to Giannone Wines for hosting the 10 Wine Tasting tables as well as the design and donation of our new Taste of Weehawken Program; and of course the countless individuals and businesses who donated services, supplies and many, many hours to help made the evening such a success.
As we have said, it is the support of this special community has helped make our Weehawken Free Public Library and Media Center among the best in the state. We look forward to welcoming you all back next year for our 13th Annual A Taste of Weehawken.
