To the Editor:

It was announced at a recent Bayonne Council Meeting that Police Chief Robert Kubert is retiring after 43 years of honorable and dedicated service to the residents of Bayonne and Hudson County as a whole. As the former Sheriff of Hudson County, I had the distinct honor and pleasure of interacting with Chief Kubert concerning mutual matters of public safety issues.

Further, as a retired New Jersey State Police Captain and former Deputy Director of the Jersey City Police Department, I must state Chief Kubert is a pillar and shining example of what career law enforcement is all about. The attributes of the Chief in all areas of enforcement is beyond all excellent qualities, but, equally important, he is a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

We wish Chief Robert Kubert all of the best in his retirement. It is well recognized that the people of Bayonne and Hudson County have certainly benefited from his sterling service to our communities.

JUAN M. PEREZ

Retired New Jersey State Police Captain

Former Sheriff of Hudson County
