Funeral services were held June 11 from Chosen Generation Ministries, Newark, for Deaconess Sadie Lucille Monroe of Jersey City. She passed away June 4 at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Born in Stanley County, N.C., Deaconess Monroe was a resident of Jersey City for 54 years. She worked in housekeeping for Jewish Rehabilitation Center for 18 years before retiring. Deaconess Monroe was the wife of Ulysese Monroe; mother of Pastor Darrin Monroe and his wife Lauren; grandmother of Aaron Monroe, Andy Galvez, Rose Thompson and Trinity Hart; sister of Gladys Maness and Nancy Henderson; sister in law of Rebecca West, Patricia Monroe, Rose Brewer, and Joel Monroe and his wife Lucille. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Arrangements were handled by the Woody “Home For Services,” Orange.
