Dear Editor:

What a fabulous music show I saw last night at Lincoln Harbor Park on the Weehawken waterfront as part of the Hudson Riverfront PAC’s Summer Concerts on the Hudson series. And it was free! I brought my blanket (though chairs were provided), and a picnic to see Mountain Heart, a fantastic 6-piece Country Rock, Blues & Bluegrass band from Nashville, Tennessee, of whom I'd never heard. They performed their own songs as well as some bluesy classics that had the audience enthralled and, in some cases, up and dancing. A few friends stopped by my blanket who had never been to one of these concerts before and I was amazed. In 8 years of these concerts, I've hardly missed any. I often don't know the bands or groups but I'm always impressed and always have a great time as we did last night. The weather was beautiful (after being postponed one night because of hail storms the night before!); the players were fine musicians, fun and inspiring; and there was not a better backdrop to any stage. All for free! When the band closed with a rendition of Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind" on piano & fiddle with the NYC skyline in the background it was the end of a perfect evening---and did I mention it was free!

Why weren't more people in attendance? Billboards for the series are everywhere around town; there's always an article in the Weehawken Reporter about the events, and the Library and other establishments give away a handy card with info that I keep on my fridge. Summer Concerts on the Hudson offers some of the best entertainment this side of the Hudson. Come on out, people! Bring your neighbors! It's all for us and it's all free! Bring a blanket and a picnic and you’ll be rewarded with some of the finest sounds and sights that Weehawken and Hudson County has to offer.
