HOBOKEN – Parents of some Hoboken pre-K students were expecting to have meet and greets today and tomorrow to prepare for the upcoming school year – but they got a rude awakening in the form of an e-mail yesterday saying the provider has still not signed a contract.
Hoboken offers free 3-year-old and 4-year-old programs, provided in the local school buildings by various contractors.
Parents whose children were assigned programs provided at the Wallace and Brandt schools by Catapult Learning expected to attend meet-and-greets with the teachers at a local park, and then a meeting in the school building, on Wednesday and Thursday. However, they received an email Tuesday stating:
“Catapult Learning and the Hoboken School District are currently working together to finalize our contract for the 2012-2013 school year. We are working diligently and communicating daily to expedite this process. Consequently, we will need to temporarily postpone our parent meetings…we will communicate new dates as we move closer to finalizing our contractual agreements. Please understand that both Catapult and the HBOE are fully committed to continuing to provide the highest quality preschool services…”
School starts next Thursday, Sept. 6
