Dr. Mark Spektor, President and CEO of Bayonne Medical Center, said late Thursday, "Bayonne Medical Center was completely shocked when we learned of these allegations, which do not involve the hospital. We are working closely in cooperating with the FBI in their investigation."
Other sources said the employee had been involved in an illegal paperwork issue and other questionable activities. Hospital officials would not comment on the nature of the investigation.
Sources in Hoboken and Jersey City said the investigation does not appear to have touched upon Hoboken University Hospital or Christ Hospital, which have some of the same owners as BMC.
