Got city hall?

Dear Editor:

Union City, just like every other city in New Jersey, has one physical building that acts as the city hall on 37th street and Palisade Avenue. For residents who live uptown the trip over to city hall is just a few blocks away. However, this is not the case for the majority of residents in Union City who live in the downtown area. Getting to city hall is not as easy as walking a few blocks, with many residents just deciding to forego the trip up due to the hassle it might be trying to get there.

As many residents including myself know when there is a problem our Mayor will find a way to fix it. As a true advocate for his constituents, Mayor Stack would not let geographical distance be the reason people can’t utilize city hall and get the help they need and deserve.

A few years back Brain Stack began bringing city hall to every block in Union City through his mobile city hall trips. Breaking the city down into 50 different parts, residents now find themselves walking just a few feet to get a one on one appointment with the mayor himself. If that alone is not impressive enough, feel free to help yourself to a steak sandwich, hot dog, or Ice Cold water all courtesy of Mayor Stack as well.

As a resident of Union City, I personally know how hard it is to get to city hall before they close at 5:30pm on weekdays. Knowing the Mayor will be in my backyard till 7pm on most nights meeting with people, makes it a breeze to truly feel the open door policy Stack’s administration strives for.

I write this letter in total support of Mayor Brian P. Stack and his non-stop work ethic for the residents of Union City. I encourage you if you have not done so already, to stop by one of the many mobile city hall meetings already going on this summer and see for yourself what I am talking about firsthand. You sure wont have to travel far and will be greeted with a welcoming hand and the smell of BBQ to top it off.

Waleed Miqbel
Resident
