JERSEY CITY -- The Hudson Reporter newspapers, whose offices lack power, were able to publish a print edition from a remote location. The paper will be distributed in Jersey City and elsewhere Saturday.

The city of Jersey City has released these updates on Saturday and Friday:

Update 11/3, 9:25am: The PSE&G mobile Customer Service Center (CSC) will distribute approximately 3,500 meals beginning at 10am at the NJ Transit Light Rail lot at Claremont and West Side Avenues.



Update 11/2, 4:58pm: Dumpsters

The Jersey City Incinerator Authority will provide free dumpsters upon request (supply permitting) for the disposal of storm damaged materials. To request a dumpster, contact JCIA CEO Oren K. Dabney Sr. at 201-432-4645 ext. 600.

Update 11/2, 4:20pm: Want to Volunteer? The City has received numerous inquiries from concerned residents who want to help out with the post-storm recovery. To address those inquiries and to match up interested volunteers with appropriate agencies, the City has set up a dedicated email address to collect volunteer information.

If you’re interested in helping out, just send an email to volunteer@jcnj.org. Please indicate if you have any special skills or equipment that may be of particular use. And thank you for your assistance during this difficult time.

Update 11/2, 4:15pm: According to PSE&G, power will be restored in 2-3 days from today, Friday, 11/2.



Additionally, the Mobile Customer Service Center has been deployed at the New Jersey Light Rail Parking Lot at West Side Avenue and Claremont Avenue. They are providing ice, water and charging phones, as well. For further information please call 1-800-436-7734.

Update 11/2, 4:00pm: A QUICK RECAP OF ALL SAFETY TIPS, ADVISORIES AND CURFEWS:

There is a Pedestrian and Vehicle curfew from 7:00 PM to 7:00 A.M Drivers who disobey the vehicle ban will be subject to summons, until further notice.

The water is safe to drink.

Garbage and recycling pickup has resumed according to regular schedule.

Please report all PRICE GOUGING to the Mayor’s Action Bureau at 547-5563.



All schools are closed until Monday by Order of the Mayor.

Please be safe and check on your neighbors, especially the elderly and disabled.



The Fire Department recommends that you DO NOT USE CANDLES, however, if you are using candles, please keep them away from children, pets, and never use them near your bed.

PLEASE SECURE CANDLES on a large plate to protect from fire.

Do not use portable generators inside the house. It is dangerous.

Keep generator 10 feet away from house and make sure windows and doors are closed so that carbon monoxide cannot enter the home.

If you use OXYGEN and can’t get a re-fill, The Fire Department can re-fill your oxygen tank at the following Fire Department locations:



255 Kearney Avenue, 355 Newark Avenue, 715 Summit Avenue, and 595 Palisade Avenue. For further information, please call 547-5681.
