It’s been a bumpy start for the Jets (0-3) as they try to get into the win column competing in the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football Jr. Division. For the Colts (1-1-1), their lone victory came on opening day when they steamrolled the Jets, 36-12. In their second meeting, the Jets’ defense was vastly improved, but the Colts’ league-leading offense was ready to put them to the test. The Jets’ defense got into the act quickly as Kyle Arano, Thomas Canela, Josh Belber, and Brian Pipher trapped the Colts’ ball-carrier in the endzone for a safety and a 2-0 lead. The lead was short-lived as the Colts’ Michael Tedesco rambled 35 yards on a toss sweep to put the Colts up, 6-2.

The Colts were soon driving for another score but Devin Herring put a stop to that by picking off a Colts’ pass. For the Jets, their offensive woes continued as dropped balls and silly penalties bogged them down all game. In spite of the blunders, the Jets did settle down just long enough to take an 8-6 lead as their hard-charging tailback Brian Pipher soared 20 yards to paydirt. Down by two, the Colts surged back to take a 12-8 advantage as Michael Tedesco blazed in for his second TD of the bout. Heading into the final 10 minutes, the Jets’ offense caught fire as Brian “Hot Wheels” Pipher exploded for another 20-yard TD sprint to make it 14-12, Jets.

After watching the Jets go toe-to-toe with them offensively, the Colts put the spurs to their sleepwalking offense and Solis also added a TD dash. Holding an 18-point lead, the Colts’ defense began to rule the brawl as Christopher Ballance, Ashley Solis, Nate “Cinch” Cintron, Riley Robertson and Da’Mien Taylor took turns swatting down Jets’ pass attempts. Finally, the Jets returned to their tried-and-true running attack as Brian Pipher tallied his third TD on yet another 20-yard run but the Colts prevailed with a 32-20 victory.

The week three Jr. Division Players of the Week were: Offensive Player of the Week – Michael Tedesco, Colts; Defensive Player of the Week – Devin Herring, Jets; Teamwork/Leadership Player of the Week – Alejandro Cifuentes, Bears.
