To the Editor:
On Nov. 20, the community was invited to the auditorium to listen and learn about the acclaimed programs at Bayonne High School. Some of the highlights included:
That each day the blocks between 27th and 30th Streets witness a large population influx of almost 3,000 students and teachers without major distraction.
That every 40 minutes the same group of 3,000 rotates in four minutes to a structured learning environment, safe and secure.
That the State of New Jersey Department of Education declared 100 percent of last year’s senior class eligible to graduate – all proficient.
That the well-known magazine “U.S. News and World Report” awarded a bronze medal for excellence to Bayonne High School – highly commendable.
That the majority of staff is present before 8 a.m. and many are also available during lunch for tutorials and for afterschool activities – students first.
Can the community compare Newark and Chicago to Bayonne? Well, they have a contract. Did I miss something?
