A funeral service was held Dec. 8 for Colette Montenegro, 64. She died Dec. 5 at Hackensack University Medical Center. Born the daughter of the late Margaret and Patrick Prior, a native of County Longford, Ireland, she came to the United States, living first in the Bronx before settling in Jersey City 31 years ago. She was a custodial engineer for PBM, LLC, New York City for 12 years. She was a member of the Local 32BJ United SEIU, New York City. She was an avid NY Yankees fan. She was the wife of Manuel ‘Billy’ Montenegro; mother of Dolores, Diandra, Brendan and Paul Montenegro; grandmother of Lizette, Kaila, Aaron, Ethan, Natalia and Jacob; sister of Zita Farrell and the late Philomena Prior and Angela Keogh; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A memorial mass with her urn present will be at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Jersey City at a time to be announced.
