JERSEY CITY -- Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, members of the Municipal Council, and the Division of Cultural Affairs will honor the victims of the Newtown, Connecticut elementary school shooting with a candlelight vigil from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28 on the steps of City Hall, 280 Grove St.

The vigil, which has been organized by Jersey City resident Daniel Rodriguez, is being held on the twoweek anniversary of the shooting that claimed the lives of 20 school children and six faculty members at the Sandy Hook Elementary School.

“This unspeakable horror devastated all of us across the nation, and the Jersey City community wants to pay tribute to all of the victims and let the families know that we are continuing to pray for them,” said Mayor Healy.
