BAYONNE -- Officials from Hudson County, Jersey City, and Bayonne are actively seeking input from residents, students, area employees, businesses, and visitors on how they think Bus Rapid Transit can enhance travel within and between these two Hudson County cities.

The Bayonne/Greenville/Journal Square BRT feasibility study is examining north-south roadway corridors to improve bus service between Bayonne and Jersey City. The study area includes the city of Bayonne, the Greenville section of Jersey City, and the Journal Square Transportation Center in Jersey City.

Local residents and other interested parties had their first opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the Bayonne/Greenville/Journal Square Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) feasibility study at public meetings held last summer in Bayonne and Jersey City. Hudson County and the two cities are now looking for additional feedback and input from residents, current bus customers, and potential bus riders to help identify the best routes and features for the proposed Bayonne/Greenville/Journal Square BRT, and have launched an online survey available at the study website: A comment form and special email address ( are also available at the same site.

“Outreach is critical to the success of this study and the eventual success of BRT in Jersey City and Bayonne,” said Massiel Ferrara, director of the Hudson County Division of Planning. “We feel it is important to give the public multiple opportunities to give us their feedback on our planning for these critical transit improvements.”

For those without computer access, hard copies of the survey will be available at City Hall in Jersey City and at City Hall in Bayonne. City Hall in Jersey City is located at 280 Grove St.; City Hall in Bayonne is located at 630 Avenue C. Surveys will also be distributed at existing bus stations in the area during late January and throughout February, to gather information from current bus users. The study team is also collecting data on where passengers get on and off buses within the study area, and analyzing additional demographic and travel projections.

The Bayonne/Greenville/Journal Square BRT study is being funded by the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority and managed by the Hudson County Division of Planning. The City of Jersey City is a project sponsor and the City of Bayonne is a supporting partner. For more information, please visit
