The Bayonne police are seeking information on a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of Justin Bellini, 22, of Bayonne, who was struck around 4:30 a.m. near 25th Street and Broadway on March 9. Anyone with information can call (201) 858-6925.
Based on a tip that the detective department received, the Bayonne police confiscated the largest amount of heroin in Bayonne history and charged Nicholas G. Rhodes, 31, of Bayonne with a number of drug-related charges including intent to distribute cocaine and heroin within a 1,000 feet of two schools.
Police Chief Ralph Scianni said police set up a surveillance operation on Feb. 1, which resulted in Rhodes’s arrest. Later, after a search of his person and his residences, the police allegedly found more than 900 bags of heroin, 47 pages of suspected cocaine, and 31 pieces of crack cocaine.
