Dear Editor:

Crime is increasing once again in Jersey City, especially on Skillman Avenue. All of the residents are talking muggings here and on the surrounding streets. In the past month we have had two muggings on Skillman Avenue which were done between 9 and 10 pm. The police did arrive. We also had someone illegal enter an apartment building using a knife. This was the second time for this person to illegally enter. The residents who saw this did not report this to the police.

A tip for neighbors who walk home after shopping is to not use your cell phone while shopping and walking and also discretely open your wallet and purse before the purchase at the register. The muggers may be watching you as you check out and pay, then follow you home. They want your cell phone and money. When walking be observant and walk in the middle of the sidewalk.

Crime is still on the increase. We are now up to about seven known incidents and the last known incident was about a week ago.
