A funeral mass was offered May 15 at St. Aloysius Church, Jersey City, for Harry Popailo, 74. He died May 11 in Van Dyke Hospice at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Jersey City, the son of the late Mary and Harry Popailo, he lived in Toms River the last six years. He retired in 1995 after 40 years with Popper Morson Liquor Distributors. He was proprietor of Dirty Harry’s Bar on West Side Ave., Jersey City from 1985 to 1995. During those years, he was also proprietor of Sterling Video. He was the husband of Barbara (Pawlowicz); father of Walter and his wife Gail, Brian, and Robin Cristi (JCPD) and her husband Robert; grandfather of Cameron and Matthew Popailo and Alyssa and Brandon Cristi; brother of Samuel, Nicholas, Dolores Vail, Jean and John Popailo; brother in law of Maureen Hawk and her late husband Robert (JCPD) and the late Edward and Dolores Ryan and Michael Pawlowicz; and uncle to numerous nephews and nieces. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
