I did not have the opportunity to present my message at the breakfast, and would be most grateful if you would present the following letter to Bayonne’s Rosarians: On Sunday, April 28, the 31st Annual Rosarians’ Citywide was held at Mount Carmel Church. The central point of this event is the celebration of Mass, which was celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Ronald J. Marczewski, K.H.S., V.F., pastor. An impressive sight is the hundreds of Rosarians receiving Communion together. The hymns, especially selected for this Mass, sung by Serdeczna Matko, were beautifully rendered. The breakfast was held at the Chandelier. Mary Ann Decha, president of Mount Carmel Rosary society, welcomed all those attending, then turned the program over to her mistress of ceremonies, Margaret LaPresti, who introduced the guest speaker, Sister Antonelle Chunka, CSSF, a Felician. Sister is the director of Promise Outreach, a cause which is commissioned to form groups of Rosary makers. Sister then distributes those Rosaries throughout the states, as well as internationally. Sister made a point to compliment the Bayonne Rosarians for the annual unifying of the nine Bayonne parishes through this annual breakfast.
The highlight of the program was honoring Bayonne’s oldest Rosarian, Ann Collins, a lifetime member, on the occasion of her upcoming 105th birthday in June. Ann was always a classy, vibrant and involved Rosarian. I’m told that has not changed in the community where she now resides. She is an inspiration to her fellow Rosarians. The message I want to convey to the Bayonne Rosarians is, After 30 years of taking my hat off to them, at the annual breakfast, it occurred to me, rather than being associated by the hats I wore, I ask to be remembered as the person, inspired by God, to coordinate and organize the first Citywide, dedicated to honoring the Blessed Mother, Queen of the Rosary. I have no doubt the Bayonne Rosarians will continue to coordinate this spiritual event for many years to come, and I pray I can always be a part of it. I thank you for your warm welcome home each year. God Bless and keep all of you. Congratulations to St. Mary Star of the Sea, next year’s host parish.
