HOBOKEN -- The Roman family will celebrate 11-year old Lil Ricky’s second marrow transplant birthday, by hosting the Third Annual Lil Ricky Softball Tournament and Marrow Drive on Saturday & Sunday, June 1-2 at the Hoboken High School Field and to benefit the Icla da Silva Foundation.

Donors will be added to the National Bone Marrow Registry, by using a simple cheek swab and will help grow the Be The Match Registry. Your efforts can help save the life of a patient in need of a bone marrow transplant. Registry members will become part of every patient's search for a matching marrow donor.

Patients in need of a transplant and their families, committed supporters, and partner organizations large and small have recruited many thousands of members to the Be The Match Registry. Yet many patients, especially those of racially and ethnically diverse heritage, do not yet have a match.

The Icla da Silva Foundation, focuses on attracting diverse registry members between the ages of 18 and 44. Doctors request donors in the 18-44 age group 90 percent of the time. Each new registry member brings hope to every patient; each could be the one a patient has been hoping for.

The total cost to add each new member to the Be The Match Registry is about $100. They rely on financial contributions to help cover these costs, which will help add more members to the Be The Match Registry, giving more patients hope for a cure. Those joining the registry are asked to give what they can. For more information, please visit: http://www.icla.org.
