The Jewish Community Center of Bayonne’s 2013 Sr. Division Floor Hockey program got underway with the Islanders taking on the Devils. The Islanders’ James Bajor wasted little time as he tallied the season’s first goal off an assist from Natallyah Teixeira. It took the Devils just under a minute to respond as team captain Mackenzie Woods assisted her fiery brother and teammate, Colin Woods, on a game tying wrist shot. Playing in his first hockey game, the Islanders’ James Bajor once again put his athletic ability on display as he notched his game tying second goal of the bout while Natallyah Teixeira picked up another assist. Knotted at 2 all, the Devils’ Colin Woods gave his team some breathing room by hitting the “Hat Trick” mark with two more goals off assists from Drew Radil and Jared Radil making it 44-2, Devils. Down by two goals, the Islanders shifted gears by sending Meghann Mock into the offensive mix while bolstering their defensive zone with Elliott Santana and Madison Neal Markowski. Within seconds, the move paid off as Mock zipped a centering pass to James Bajor who cash in with his “Hat Trick” goal narrowing the Devils lead to 4-3. For the last ten minutes of the fray both goalies weathered a hail storm of shots as the Islanders’ Sofia Fragiacomo and the Devils’ Josh Greenbaum each made seven saves to keep the score tight. Finally, the Devils’ offense clicked into action as Hugh Kiniery cleared a shot to Mackenzie Woods who assisted the sharp shooting Colin Woods on his game clinching fourth goal as the devils prevailed 5-3.
