A mass of Christian burial took place June 7 at St James Church, Red Bank, for Adelene P. “Ad” Lynch, 66, of Shadow Lake Village, Middletown Twp., formerly of Jersey City. She passed away peacefully with family at her side on June 1 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She succumbed to cancer after a courageous 18 year battle, during which time she was also caring for her mother. Born in Jersey City, she had been a lifelong resident prior to moving to Middletown five years ago. Ad was a graduate of St. Aloysius Academy, Traphagen Institute of Fashion, and St. Peter’s College. She also attended Notre Dame of Maryland University. Ad worked for the government for nearly 20 years before retiring in 2011 from her position as a Project Manager at Ft. Monmouth for the PEO EIS Department.

In 2010, Adelene won the Department of the Army Commanders Award for Civil Service. Her joy in life was being with her nieces and nephews and their children. She was a devoutly religious person and a communicant of St. James Church, Red Bank. Prior to moving from Jersey City, she was very active at both St. Aloysius and St. Aiden’s Churches. She was predeceased by her father, Dr. James F. Lynch Sr.; her brother James F. Lynch, Jr. and her nephew James F. Lynch III. Ad is survived by her mother, Adelene F. Lynch of Middletown; her brother Robert Lynch and his wife Lorraine of Oceanport; her sister in law, Florence Lynch of Jersey City; six nieces, nephews and their families: Gerri Lynch Manzo, Rachelle Filippone, Erin Borders, Suzanne Slasinski, Robert Lynch. Jr. and Courtney McMahon; fourteen great nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins, including Marie Samudio. Services arranged by the Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.
