Funeral services have been held for Joseph E. Popovich, 87, of Jersey City. He died May 27 at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Jersey City. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was the founder and Past Commander of the Laffayette Amvets, Post 33, he also served for 50 years as their Service Officer. He was a former State Amvets Commander and he served as First Vice Commander of the National Amvets. He worked as a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years at the Bergen Station Postal Facility. He was the son of the late John and Bertha Bezuska Popovich and the brother of Michael. Services arranged by the Bromirski Funeral Home, Jersey City.
