I would like to take a moment to thank a special group of people, the Hoboken Sanitation/Streets and Roads Department, who are always there for the city before, during and after any major or minor event. Storms, hurricanes, art and music festivals, snow storms, Fourth of July events or whatever, they are always there.
Long after the lights go down, cameras are gone, and into the wee hours of the morning, when everybody’s home sleeping, they are still out there, making sure our city is ready for the next day. They make sure our roads our open so buses can run and emergency vehicles can get through. It’s not magic; it’s them throughout the night.
When the police, fire, emergency management or ambulance crews need something, they call us and we are always there to help. Do you have any idea how much garbage 100,000 people leave behind?
You guys are the unsung heroes of our city and I am very proud to be a part of it.
We will be there again today, tomorrow, or whenever.
