Dear Editor: On behalf of the Puerto Rican Cultural Committee of Hoboken, I would like to take this opportunity to cordially invite all citizens to the 34th Annual Puerto Rican Flag Raising ceremony on Saturday, June 17 at 11 a.m. in City Hall. Each year, the city of Hoboken, in conjunction with the Puerto Rican Cultural Committee, commemorates this festival occasion to celebrate the rich contributions and heritage of a proud and humble people. We come together to reflect upon the past, but also to look ahead to the future. We do so by investing in the education of our future leaders. For the fourth consecutive year, we will distribute several scholarships to graduating high school seniors at this event. The Puerto Rican Cultural Committee is proud of the contributions we have made and continue to make toward enhancing the quality of life in Hoboken. These annual events are an opportunity to not only come together and highlight our culture, but also share it with those in our community who may not be familiar with the Puerto Rican community. On Saturday, June 24 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Pier A Park, the 7th Annual Puerto Rican Waterfront Festival will be held. We expect a large crowd to enjoy a day filled with crafts, food and musical entertainment. We encourage and welcome everyone to dance with us, eat with us and most importantly, learn what we, the Puerto Rican community, are about. We look forward to seeing you there! Raul Morales, President Puerto Rican Cultural Committee
