Dear Editor: I work for the City of Hoboken, in the Department of Administration. In fact, my desk is located just outside the mayor's conference room. I have answered one of Mayor Russo's phone lines many times, and I have heard the broadest range of remarks about him; from the most complimentary to the most unbelievably cruel. But no matter what else anyone may think of him, it really cannot be disputed that he is a man of uncommon courage. I know; I have witnessed it first hand. I have seen him come into his office virtually every day and sustain a schedule of meetings and take endless phone calls while handling the other day to day responsibilities of his office. He takes time to meet with the city residents who come in to see him with a specific problem or concern or to simply see how he's feeling and wish him well. I answered the phone when he called from his hospital bed after his first surgery to speak with his secretary, Angela, taking the day's phone messages and consulting with her on revising his schedule. I was there when he held a press conference on his new summer recreation program for children, on the day before his second major surgery. Some will say I have the good fortune of having a "city job" of working for Anthony Russo, the mayor. I say I have the good fortune of knowing Anthony Russo, the man., Joanne Buonarota
