This letter is to the individual or group that is responsible for maintaining and improving the section of River Road that extends between the new development of Jacobs/Bulls Ferry (alongside the Galaxy complex) and Bulls Ferry Road (Sunoco Service Station).
Jacobs Ferry is the location where two northbound lanes convert to one. It is obvious that you do not have to commute there at rush hour, or you would have done something by now! If there are plans to widen the road to a second northbound lane, I'd like to add my opinion here: Do it now! If there are no plans, then please put someone responsible enough in the position to realize that a lot of angry, frustrated commuters would like a second lane to eliminate the bottleneck. The shoulder is wide enough the entire way, and there is no existing construction in place.
In the interim, I'd like to suggest a temporary solution. During evening rush hour, convert the middle lane (which presently runs southbound) to a northbound lane, similar to the way tunnel traffic is handled at rush hour. A couple of signs, a couple of police, and you'd be allowing thousands of commuters home 30 minutes earlier.
