I would like to take this opportunity to honor the recent passing of Hoboken resident Marie Alfano. For those who didn't know her or cannot place her name, Marie was a small, white-haired, 83-year-old woman who walked with a cane. Carlo's Bakery, Hoboken Pizza and CVS were some of her favorite places to sit and chat with all of the friends who loved and admired her. Marie had a smile for everyone, even when she was in pain, which was often. She taught me and many other people a lot about perseverance, patience, spirituality and love for humankind.
My heart is so saddened by the loss of this dear lady, but I am uplifted by the hope that she is free of pain and is laughing at us mortals in her impish way. It was an honor and a blessing to know and love her. Thank you, Marie!
