Dear Editor:

Union City has gone through some very interesting times in these recent years. A City that has always tried to better itself but just can't seem to fulfill its goals. Union City has been struggling with many serious issues, and has experienced some very difficult days. All this has sadly gone on at the expense of the people. The poor innocent people that work long, hard hours so they can call Union City home.

And now, for the first time in a long time the city is experiencing some new changes that are really making a difference in our community. Changes that are finally bringing security, stability, honesty, pride and even joy to our community. All these changes can only be attributed to the leadership of one man, and one man only. A person who cares about Union City like no one I ever met; a person that works 18 hour days to fulfill the Cities goals. By now I'm sure you know who I am talking about, our Mayor, the honorable Brian P. Stack.

Mayor Brian Stack has taken Union City from a tax increase disaster that almost left the city with a mandatory state takeover, to a reduction of those high unacceptable taxes. He led the city in paying a $6,000,000 debt owed to the Board of Education from the previous administration. He understands how important that money is to the school system. He also helped the city in keeping a cash surplus in the budget, something that hasn't happened in a long time.

Mayor Brian P. Stack has taken Union City from having one-officer patrol car at night "A scary thought," to having two officers patrol cars and putting more police officers on the street. All this without using any additional tax dollars.

Mayor Stack took Union City from a closed door policy that only helped the chosen few and left everyone asking, "Where is the Mayor,?" to an open door policy where everyone is welcomed and now everyone knows where the mayor is. This is something that the people must never lose again.

These are just some of the accomplishments that Mayor Brian Stack has done in less than a year of being our Mayor. I believe that with Brian Stack as our Mayor, Union City can finally reach the goals that it has desired and deserves, goals that are long overdue.
