It was an interesting report in The Reporter that told of the planned partnership of the Hoboken schools and Stevens Institute of Technology.
It will be one more step in the long association between Stevens and the Hoboken schools. All through the years Stevens has granted full tuition scholarships to selected students in each graduating class. Many of those students went on to achieve success as corporation executives and college professors.
The long association with Stevens was strengthened by two Principals of the high school who were Stevens' graduates: Arthur Stover, Stevens 1914 and myself, Stevens, 1932.
Before the Personal Computer flourished the practice was the use of the Computer Terminal connected to the large Main Frame Computer. When I was Principal, we received a grant from the Federal Government which enabled us to set up Computer Terminals in the High School that were wired to the Main Frame Computer at Stevens. Stevens had their instructors set a program for teaching the use of a computer.
It is so appropriate in these times when technology is becoming such an influence in our world and our lives that our students will be trained to meet the changes and challenges.
