To the people of North Bergen

Dear Editor:

I am writing because parking in our neighborhoods has become a terrible problem. The mayor has instituted a residential parking program, and I think this is a good program. I applaud the mayor for starting this. However, while this parking permit is only in effect in certain areas of North Bergen, I think it should be instituted in all of North Bergen.

I live on 82nd Street but it is difficult to find a parking spot on my street. Recently I received a parking ticket because my car was parked on Bergenline Avenue before 9 p.m. I think this is outrageous . As residents of North Bergen we cannot find a parking spot for our cars. Yet when we park on streets that are accessible, we receive a ticket.

I am a student at Saint Peter's Prep, and I have been taught that this is an injustice which needs to be addressed. This is an injustice because the solution (the permit program) is applied only in certain areas of North Bergen, when the problem is experienced in all of North Bergen.
