Last fall, "Brother Biggie," also known as Michael Yaccarino, celebrated a memorable 70th birthday. Many know him as the successful business owner of Biggie's Clam Bar on Madison Street, established in 1946. He's a hallmark of Hoboken!

The celebration was held at his daughter's house in Washington Township, and the theme was, of course, clams. It was evident everywhere one glanced. There were boat rides around the lake, instances of the chicken dance, swimmers, a ventriloquist comedian, a continuous slide show of Biggies's younger days, toasts, and even "pin the clam on the donkey" for the younger guests.

There were, of course, great things to eat, music, and many cherished memories.

Yaccarino's daughters were happy that everyone was able to "clam up" for a great surprise!

In fact, family members wrote this poem to commemorate the event:

"Clam man of the year"

It was Brother Biggie's birthday
We all gathered 'round
The celebration was a surprise
No one made a sound

He just turned 70
God bless this family man
Even after all these years
He was happy as a clam

With his watermelon smile
And his zestful love for life
He could still shuck a clam
With one flick of his knife

So we all gathered together
Happy to be a guest
To wish Brother Biggie
Nothing but the best!
