Dear Editor:

My name is John Madigan. I am a lifelong resident of Hoboken. I am married and the father of two young sons. My sons attend Hoboken Public Schools. I have volunteered countless hours to help our children. I am the founder and director of the Calabro Basketball League. Through my many years of volunteering, I know first hand how Hoboken Public Schools students are amazingly unique. As parents we should praise our children's strengths and accomplishments and encourage them to reach their full potential. I believe that parents are the key to "Quality Education." I would encourage every parent to take an active and supportive role in his or her child's education. I encourage parents to support and work together with their child's teachers to ensure their child's success in education. One way that we can show our teachers that we stand behind them, and appreciate them, is to support their efforts in trying to get the City Council to give city employees who provide "special services" such as teachers, special business permits to park on both sides of the street. If our teachers are forced to continuously circle the streets in an attempt to find parking, it is clear that this ordinance will no doubt affect the quality of our children's education.

If I were fortunate enough to be elected to the Hoboken Board of Education, I would be extremely honored. I would work hard to ensure that each and every child is given the same opportunities. My main concern is to do what is best for our children.

John Madigan
