Catherine P. O’Brien, 50, passed away Oct. 6. She was a former resident of Ridgefield, Weehawken, and most recently Wall.

She is survived by her sister Kelly O’Brien, brother Matthew and sister-in-law Theresa (Tracey) O’Brien, her nephew Matthew Thomas O’Brien, and her beloved pet cats. She is predeceased by her parents, Janice and Norman (Butch) O’Brien.

Catherine attended Ridgefield’s St. Matthew’s elementary school and graduated from Ridgefield, Memorial High School in 1980. She attended Rutgers University studying theater communications.

For over 25 years, Catherine worked in creative administration roles for various Madison Avenue advertising agencies including Wells, Rich, Greene, Bozell Worldwide, and Bouchez Kent+Company.

Since 2005, Catherine has been an award-winning realtor in Hudson County, serving as team member for Weichert Realtors and Empire Realty. She was a multiple year winner for NJ Circle of Excellence among many other achievements in that industry. In October of 2012, Catherine helped launch Linger, an up-scale lingerie boutique, in Spring Lake, NJ.

Catherine was involved in many civic activities in her hometown of Ridgefield including its centennial commission. She was performed in local theatre groups including “The $.99 Special” in Hoboken, NJ and was a production assistant Search’s traveling religious musical Pentejoy. Catherine was also the production coordinator for the acclaimed 1995 indie film “Clean, Shaven. She also appeared in promotional spots for HBO.

Catherine loved her parish, St. Francis in Hoboken, where she was a member of the Rosary Society and briefly served as its president.

Catherine is remembered for her kindness, humor, and loyalty – and her ability to break out into song. The funeral was to be held at A.K. Macagna Funeral Home 495 Anderson Ave., Cliffside Park, on Friday, Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. at St. Francis RC Church, Hoboken. Entombment at Madonna Mausoleum, Fort Lee.
